Overseeing and directing projects from concept to completion
Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulation
Procurement of subcontractors
Coordinating and directing construction workers and subcontractors
Programming of jobs
Measuring drawings
Purchasing materials
Reviewing project progress on daily basis
Meeting contractual conditions of performance

The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of the shopfitting industry and have the following qualifications;

HNC
SMSTS
CSCS
First Aid
Asbestos Awareness

We are recruiting for a well established West Yorkshire based retail project management and shopfitting firm who require a Managing Quantity Surveyor.

For over 20 years they have professionally handled all aspects of retail fit out, from planning & designing, project management to high quality fitting out. With strong relationships with many high street names, they run projects up and down the country.

Duties will include but are not limited

• Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
• Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans
• Performing risk and value management and cost control
• Advising on procurement strategy
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
• Preparing and analysing costs for tenders
• Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems
• Allocating work to subcontractors
• Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded
• Appoint and administer sub-contractor to carry out works including subsequent agreement of final account
• Providing advice on and producing contractual claims
• Valuing completed work and arranging payments
• Day to day supervision of Assistant and trainee Surveyors
• Liaise with the Estimating and Buying departments as necessary
• Attend Client meetings and sub-contractor meetings
• Produce periodic cost reports
• Liaise closely with Site Management team in respect of day to day matters
• Liaising with Clients / Employer’s Agent / to agree interim valuations and final accounts
• Ensure that interim valuations are submitted and paid on time

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience along with an approachable management style in order to lead a team of up to 6 people. You will also need the flexibility to be able to run your own schemes as and when needed. Travel will also be a feature of the role as and when necessary.

We are recruiting for a well established West Yorkshire based construction firm who are seeking an experienced Site Engineer for an 18 month project.

They have been operating across the UK for almost twenty years and have built a great reputation across the build sector. Previous projects have covered all aspects of the construction market from industrial, commercial and residential build.

You will be part of team that develops and extends an existing building into a large apartment block and as the Engineer you should possess your own robotics total station and supporting software to create surveys.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting out along with being responsible for co-ordinating and managing teams on site.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to;

• Setting out all groundworks and earthworks
• Preparation of risk assessments and method statements
• Review project specifications and drawings
• Negotiate modifications
• Compile and monitoring ITPs
• Material and resource reconciliation
• Represent and contribute at meetings/briefings
• Record, report on and schedule works and programmes
• Build a positive working relationship with the Site Manager, Client and all sub-contractors
• Oversee quality control and health and safety standards

My client is a Yorkshire based refurbishment and fit-out firm that also offer a bespoke joinery manufacturing service. In their 35 years of operation, they have established a reputation throughout the industry for their reliability and professionalism

They are looking to expand their existing team with a permanent QS/Estimator, who will report directly to the Financial Director

You must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience within the construction/shopfitting sector, with joinery manufacture experience also being an advantage.

Typical duties will include pricing, preparation of tender documents, materials procurement, preparation of budget costings and valuation of project variations and maximising profit.

The role will be office based with ad-hoc visits to site as needed, in a typical working week of 45 hours Monday to Friday.

They are looking to recruit a Site Manager on a permanent basis, with the right applicant coming from a Joinery background. There will be extensive travel with this role, and a travel and accommodation package will be available. Salary is negotiable dependent on experience.
